Product Care

Product Disclaimer

At Hermosa Living, we fully embrace the natural aging process of our products. We understand that over time, natural splitting, cracking, and the gradual loss of natural oils may occur. Rather than considering these occurrences as flaws or imperfections, we view them as inherent characteristics that enhance the distinct beauty of our items. They serve as a testament to the natural life and allure of the timber used in our creations.

Excessive humidity fosters the formation of mould, as restricted air circulation and moisture collaborate to establish a microclimate conducive to mould development. Furniture, clothing, and various household items may become susceptible to mould growth under these conditions. It is important to note that when mould appears, it is not necessarily a flaw inherent to the affected items; instead, the presence of humidity or dampness in the air can furnish ample moisture for mould to flourish on any surface. Mould is not confined to specific locations and can manifest anywhere, with humid climates offering ideal conditions for the fungi to proliferate on various surfaces.

Sunbrella® Fabric

Sunbrella fabric is a popular material known for its durability and resistance to outdoor elements. Here are some care instructions to help you maintain and extend the life of your Sunbrella fabric:

Regular Cleaning: Brush off any loose dirt or debris from the fabric surface. Use a soft-bristle brush or a cloth to remove dust and dirt.

Spot Cleaning: For small stains or spills, blot the affected area immediately with a clean cloth or sponge. Avoid rubbing, as it may spread the stain further.

Mild Soap Solution: Prepare a solution of mild soap (like dish soap) and lukewarm water. Gently scrub the stained area using a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and let it air dry.

Machine Wash: Sunbrella fabric can be machine washed. Use a mild detergent on a gentle cycle with cold water. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the fabric's protective coating.

Air Dry: After washing, allow the fabric to air dry completely. Avoid using a dryer or any direct heat source, as it can shrink or warp the fabric.

Avoid Abrasive Cleaning: Do not use abrasive cleaners or brushes with stiff bristles, as they may damage the fabric's surface.

Protect from Mold and Mildew: Sunbrella fabric is mold and mildew resistant, but it's still essential to keep it dry and well-ventilated to prevent the growth of these microorganisms.

Store Properly: If you plan to store Sunbrella cushions or covers during the winter or extended periods, make sure they are clean and completely dry before storing in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Keep Sunbrella fabric away from contact with harsh chemicals like bleach, acetone, or solvents, as they can cause discolouration or damage.

Use Protective Covers: When not in use, consider covering your Sunbrella furniture with protective covers to shield it from dust, dirt, and direct sunlight.

Following these care instructions should help you maintain the quality and appearance of your Sunbrella fabric for a long time.

Suar Wood

Our products are meticulously handcrafted from Suar wood by our skilled artisans. As a natural timber, it showcases a variety of colours, grains, and knots that are unique to each piece. These variations are simply the natural character of the timber and should not be considered as defects.

Furthermore, it's important to note that Suar wood will respond to changes in temperature and humidity by expanding and contracting. As a result, you may notice movements and cracks in your items as they adjust. Please understand that this is not a fault, but a natural occurrence within the fibers of a natural product.

We take pride in offering products that embrace the beauty and authenticity of natural materials. The unique characteristics and changes only add to the charm and individuality of each piece.

Mould on Furniture: Excessive humidity fosters the formation of mould, as restricted air circulation and moisture collaborate to establish a microclimate conducive to mould development.

Regular Dusting: Dust your Suar wood furniture regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent the buildup of dirt and debris.

Gentle Cleaning: For light cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with water. Wipe the surface gently and immediately dry it with a clean, dry cloth to avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.

Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive or chemical-based cleaners, as they can damage the wood's natural finish and cause discoloration.

Oil or Wax (Optional): If you wish to enhance the natural beauty of the wood and provide some additional protection, you can apply a suitable wood oil or wax. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and apply it in the direction of the wood grain.

Blot Spills Immediately: In case of spills, blot them immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid rubbing, as it may spread the liquid and cause staining.

Protect from Sunlight: Suar wood can be sensitive to direct sunlight, which may cause fading or slight color changes over time. Position your furniture away from direct sunlight or use curtains/blinds to filter the sunlight.

Use Coasters and Placemats: When using Suar wood for dining tables or as a surface for placing items, use coasters and placemats to protect the wood from heat, moisture, and stains.

Seasonal Humidity: Suar wood can react to changes in humidity levels. To prevent warping or cracking, maintain a stable indoor environment with moderate humidity levels.

Lift Furniture: When moving Suar wood furniture, avoid dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches and damage. Lift it gently and place felt pads or furniture sliders under the legs to protect both the furniture and the floor.

By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your Suar wood pieces retain their natural beauty and durability for a long time.

Teak

Teak furniture is known for its eco-friendliness and rustic charm. To ensure it stays in good condition and withstands outdoor elements, follow these care instructions:

Regular Cleaning: Wipe down the furniture regularly with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and debris. For more stubborn grime, use a mild soap solution with water and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly with clean water afterward.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Refrain from using harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the natural teak wood and its protective finish.

Apply Teak Oil or Sealer (Optional): Some people prefer to maintain the original teak color by applying teak oil or sealer. If you choose to do so, follow the manufacturer's instructions and apply it to clean, dry furniture.

Protect from Moisture: While teak is relatively weather-resistant, excessive moisture can lead to issues like mildew and wood rot. During rainy seasons, consider covering the furniture or storing it in a dry area.

Prevent Stains: Use coasters or placemats under glasses, cups, and other objects that may leave water rings or stains on the furniture's surface.

Sanding (if needed): If you notice any rough spots or weathered areas on the furniture, light sanding with fine-grit sandpaper can help smoothen the surface. Follow up with cleaning and optional teak oil application afterward.

Seasonal Inspections: Conduct regular inspections, especially before and after the outdoor season. Check for any signs of damage, loose joints, or cracks, and address them promptly to prevent further deterioration.

Store Properly: If you plan to store the furniture during the winter or extended periods, ensure it is thoroughly cleaned, dried, and stored in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Sun Protection: While teak is durable, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause slight color changes over time. Consider using outdoor furniture covers or providing some shade during the sunniest parts of the day.

By following these care instructions, you can maintain the beauty and longevity of your teak outdoor furniture, allowing you to enjoy its rustic charm for many years to come.
